About the Work

Corner Fish Bar forms part of South of the River, a photographic series exploring working-class life, community and the changing character of south-east London. The project is deeply personal: the artist was born and raised in south-east London and still lives there, giving the work an intimate connection to the places, people and communities it documents.

Photographed in 2022, Corner Fish Bar documents a traditional fish and chip shop on Naylor Road in Peckham, where the premises served the local community as a chippy for almost six decades. Over that time, it became a familiar neighbourhood landmark, reflecting the longstanding place of independent fish and chip shops within Britain's working-class culture. Following its closure in early 2026, the photograph preserves a piece of Peckham's local history and an establishment that had been part of the area's identity for generations. Its disappearance reflects the gradual loss of longstanding businesses that have helped shape the character of south-east London's neighbourhoods.

Limited Editions

Each print size is produced in a strictly limited, numbered edition, with the edition size varying according to the dimensions. Once an edition sells out, no further numbered prints will be produced in that size.

In addition to the numbered edition, one Artist Proof (AP) is produced in each size. Artist Proofs are separate from the numbered edition and are traditionally retained by the artist.

Limited-edition, fine-art inkjet print on archival Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta 315 gsm.

Each print is produced with a white border proportioned to the print size. The dimensions listed above refer to the overall paper size, including the border, with the image printed proportionally within these dimensions.

Each print is signed, titled and numbered by the artist on the front lower border and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Prints are supplied unframed and carefully packaged in a protective shipping tube.
