Unspoken Stories: A Narrative-Driven Portraiture Workshop with Nico Froehlich
Date: 30/08/2025
Time: 11:00-17:00
Locations: Soho and an undisclosed location in south-east London
Join photographer Nico Froehlich for a hands-on workshop dedicated to the art of narrative-driven portraiture: the craft of capturing compelling portraits of strangers in public spaces that tell a story.
The day begins at 11:00 with an introductory talk, where Nico shares his unique approach, personal insights, and practical techniques for creating portraits that convey depth, character, and narrative. A warm-up photowalk then takes you through the lively streets of Soho, an ideal environment to begin gaining confidence in approaching and photographing people in real-world settings.
After a lunch break from 13:30 to 14:30, the group will head to south-east London for the second half of the day. This immersive session will challenge participants to take their practice to the next level, all under Nico’s expert guidance and support.
The workshop concludes in one of Nico’s favourite local pubs, a relaxed and informal space where participants can reflect on the day, share stories, and unwind.
To maintain momentum beyond the workshop, participants will be invited to a shared Padlet page, a collaborative platform for posting images, giving and receiving feedback, and fostering an ongoing community focused on narrative-driven portraiture.
